May 2, 2005 - Quantum & TeleBermuda International Sign Network Agreement   Two TeleBermuda-BHA scholarships have been awarded to a couple of exceptional students furthering their education in the Hospitality Industry. Mr. Lee Greene, Director of Sales for TBI, presented the students with the scholarships and congratulated Cindy Hooper and Aaron Swan for their outstanding job academically. Mr. Greene also noted, “We would like to congratulate the parents of Mrs. Hooper and Mr. Swan for being very supportive through their school years and we are delighted to provide financial assistance to Bermudians who have chosen to pursue a career in hospitality”. Cindy Hooper achieved the highest GPA amoungst the students that applied this year. She attends Florida International University and is a member of the Eta Sigma Delta Society and the Golden Key International Honour Society. Cindy Hooper received a check for $7,000 that will go towards her last semester at FIT. Upon her return, Cindy will continue her employment with the Fairmont Southampton Hotel where she has worked during her summer breaks. A second scholarship of $3,000 was also awarded to Mr. Aaran Swan. Majoring in Hospitality Management at Baltimore International College, Mr. Swan interned at Mount Vernon Hotel last semester and acquired practical experience within the organization gaining first hand knowledge of the hotel’s operations and procedures. Mr. John Harvey, CEO of the Bermuda Hotel Association addressed the students and their family by stating, “We are very proud of your accomplishments and dedication to the Hospitality Industry. As the future of Bermuda, we are very excited for you to return with the hard earned skill sets that you have received overseas.” Both students awarded with the TeleBermuda-BHA scholarship continue to excel in their studies abroad and TBI encourages those currently in or seeking to enter the hospitality sector through post secondary education and trade school training to apply for the TeleBermuda-BHA scholarships.
